Stoney Creek (Wintergreen) 3/31/10

This morning there was a Red-shouldered Hawk sitting on my owl box - the Screech Owl hasn't been there for two to three weeks, so it probably won't be back, and with the hawk using it as a perch, I doubt if the Bluebirds will use it either.

A few weeks ago I was looking at some aerial imagery over Stoney Creek, and found a pond on Hidden Creek Dr. that I did not know exists. There have been ducks there almost every time I have gone there, and today was no exception. This afternoon there were 14 Wood Ducks, a male and female Mallard, and the female Ring-necked was still there for the third day in a row.

Hope you enjoy the photos. I will try to get to the RV Trail Friday and/or Saturday.
