Lake Monocan and all of the ponds are still filled with muddy water from Saturday's stormy weather and flooding, but a pair of Pied-billed Grebes was swimming in the lake. I don't know how they could see anything edible in all the muck. I went for a short after dinner hike. There are are couple of large pools of standing water in the farm field next to the small Deer Run pine forest. One of the pools had a pair of Mallards in it, as well as a pair of Solitary Sandpipers - clear water wherever a bird can find some!
