After several long distance birding outings, I decided to stay close to home this morning. It was a beautiful day - warm temperatures and mostly sunny skies. Rain is moving into the area tonight, and the temperature is forecasted to plummet this coming weekend. I suspect that "the iceman cometh."
I hiked to Lake Monocan, down to the Allen Creek Nature Preserve, then up along the small pine forest, and finally around Sawmill Creek ponds #6, #5, and #4. Between the birds seen on the hike and two more species at my feeder, I ended up with 30 species for the day.
