I watched a Red-bellied Woodpecker bring a nut to a palm tree, look for a hole just the right size, put the nut in the hole using it as a vice, and then peck away at the nut.

I went to the Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve to look for Florida Scrub-Jays, but none were to be found there. I was told that they are no longer providing food for the Jays that were released there, and the flock had left the reserve. At the end of the trail I saw two very friendly raccoons that were begging for food from a fisherman.

I saw a black squirrel and a multi-colored squirrel at one of the golf courses.

Away from the beach at Delnor-Wiggins, there was a crab crossing the road and a dolphin in one of the bays.
