South and North Haven Beaches

It rained for the next two hours, and we birded from the car. There wasn't much to see at North Haven Beach - the marsh grasses were taller than the car there, and it was raining too hard to get out of the car. But South Haven Beach was better. When we first got there, Walt spotted a Bald Eagle.

And then we saw some interesting birds in a small inlet. There were three Tricolored Herons, a Snowy Egret, and a pair of Laughing Gulls. When I was photographing the herons through the car window, Walt saw an American Oystercatcher fly from the inlet.

A Great Blue Heron flew from that same area, and then we saw a Great Egret that decided that it owned the road - until we decided to leave that beach area.

We debated whether or not to head back to Bethel Beach as it was still raining, or head for home. We decided to look for the target sparrows one more time.
