Ridgeview Park (Waynesboro)

The winds have shifted from northerly to southerly, and this seems to have opened the door for migrating birds to travel northward. I went to Ridgeview Park this morning to look for warblers, and ended up with 33 avian species, including three warbler and two vireo species, and some other interesting birds.

As soon as I parked my car, I saw an Osprey flying overhead.

I continued from the parking lot to the wooded areas, and saw lots of woodland birds, including a late season Hermit Thrush.

I saw a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk that was probably looking for small birds as I was, but for a different reason!

I saw three warbler species: Yellow-rumped, Black-throated Green (FOS), and Black and White (FOS).

There were quite a few Blue-headed Vireos there, and I got a few photos of a probable Warbling Vireo, but Philadelphia Vireo is a slight possibility.

About an hour into my morning hike at Ridgeview Park, I saw a pair of Ospreys flying by. One of them landed in a tree while the other one continued on. The perched Osprey then started calling for her mate.
