The temperature was in the low 30s this morning with scattered frost. I had hoped that the northwesterly winds and cold temperatures would usher in some new birds to the area. It was about 40 degrees when I got to the trail a little after 9:00 a.m. I ended up with only 19 avian species there in about two hours, but saw 6 sparrow species and 3 first-of-season species: Yellow-rumped Warbler, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and Hairy Woodpecker.
