Shenandoah Valley, VA, 2/17/16

Walt Childs and I headed west into the Shenandoah Valley to see what birds might be out after last Monday's snow and ice. We were surprised to see that most of the snow had melted. We started off looking for Horned Larks along Strickley Road in Augusta County, and then made our way north and west past Harrisonburg in Rockingham County. We ended up with 36 avian species that included 8 Red-tailed Hawks, and a Common Goldeneye and an immature Trumpeter Swan at Silver Lake in Dayton.
