With temperatures in the low to mid-80s, most of the birds were staying cool in the shade of trees, making photography a challenge, but I ended up with 30 avian species here in Old Trail, including my FOS Brown Creeper (my Old Trail species #100) and my FOS Purple Finch (my Old Trail species #101). The Brown Creeper was almost impossible to see as it blended in with the tree bark. I may have had 2 or 3 more avian species, but could not positively identify them. At one point in my hike, a small cluster of trees was swarming with birds - mostly Ruby-crowned Kinglets and Yellow-rumped Warblers, but also at least one Black-throated Blue Warbler, and the Brown Creeper and the Purple Finch.
