I only had time for a short hike here this morning. Last autumn, there were lots of Gray Catbirds along the trails, but I hadn't seen any here this year until this morning.

A few minutes later I spotted a male and a female House Sparrow having a major disagreement. First they were fighting in some grass, then moved to some mulch, and finally to a sidewalk when a third House Sparrow showed up ringside. I think that the female got the better of the male, and he then flew off. Wonder what he did??

On my way home I spotted a huge swarm of tiny white flies. Must have been several thousand of them, and I could only see them when the light hit them and there was a dark background. I am still trying to identify the species.
