London, England; 5/11,12,23/2017

All photos are © Marshall Faintich

Alice and I traveled to London, England to spend a few days with her mother, then did a tour of the Scottish highlands, returned to London, and then sailed back from Southampton, England to New York on the Queen Mary 2. While in north London, I did some birding mostly in my mother-in-law's garden, but also did three short hikes to nearby parks and walking paths. I saw 25 avian species while we were in London, but none of them were life birds for me as I have birded there several times on previous visits. I saw and photographed all of the species mentioned in this report, unless otherwise noted, and show many of the photos as additional photos that can be accessed from the avian trip list at the end of this report.

I heard a woodpecker drilling nearby on a footpath, but could not locate it. On previous trips, I had seen Green Woodpeckers near there. I also saw a distant bird flying about in the direction of a park 1/2 mile away where I had seen a Sparrowhawk on previous trips.
