Rockfish Valley, VA, 12/4/18

I had an errand to run in Nellysford, so I spent about an hour on the Rockfish Valley Trail. It was fairly quiet except for two areas. There was a dead deer on Glenthorne Loop (road) and a fair number of Turkey and Black Vultures were taking turns at the carcass. The bog area was also a bit "birdy." I ended up with 20 avian species, including 3 Hermit Thrushes, 2 Pileated Woodpeckers, a small flock of Cedar Waxwings, and a Golden-crowned Kinglet. I sonetimes see an orange streak down the middle of the yellow crown stripe on these Kinglets, but this one had a small orange patch at the rear of its crown.
