Old Trail

It was warm, but overcast this morning. Cornell's migration radar maps did not show much movemnet through Virginia last night, so I hiked a bit here in Old Trail, and ended up with 32 avian species. The highlight of the hike was a Yellow-rumped Warbler, as I hadn't seen one here in a few months. It was good to see a small flock of Swamp Sparrows. I saw a male Cardinal molting, and deer are getting their summer coats. It must be getting closer to summer, as I saw my first dragonfly of the spring. A Red-shouldered Hawk was preening.
