Strong storms moved through the area during the night and very early morning hours, and we were out of power from 6 to 8 a.m. The rains cleared by mid-morning, and left cloudy skies and very strong wind gusts. I did an 1-3/4 hour hike here in Old Trail from 10:30 to 12:15 to see what might have either been blown in, or might have taken shelter here, and ended up with 26 avian species, although many of the smaller birds were hunkered down. Highlights were a pair of singing Louisiana Waterthrushes, and my Old Trail first of year Common Yellowthroat.
