It was still chilly and windy today, but not as bad as yesterday. I was busy in the morning, but had time for a short hike near my home in Old Trail before an early afternoon hike at Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir.

Old Trail

I had 10 avian species along Slabtown Branch Creek. The Solitary and Spotted Sandpipers at the retention pond continue.

Lickinghole Creek and Reservoir

I had 31 avian species here, including all but 4 that I had in Old Trail earlier, giving me 35 avian species for the day. There were several Solitary and Spotted Sandpipers, as well as a Greater Yellowlegs. An adult Bald Eagle was in its nest, but I didn't see either of the two eaglets I saw there six days ago. I wonder if they fledged already, or were just taking an afternoon nap?

I saw one Common Yellowthroat, my only warbler of the day. I was a bit surprised to see a Great Egret, and finally got a Green Heron photo this spring.
