Dense fog covered the entire area early this morning, but it soon cleared and I headed up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and Route 610 between mm. 2 and mm. 4 of the parkway. I ended up with 27 avian species, including 5 warbler species, although most of the birds I saw this morning were along Route 610. There was a lot of automobile and motorcycle traffic on the parkway today. I saw quite a few woodland birds.

I saw a Downy Woodpecker with black barring on its white back patch. This is the second time this year I have seen a Downy Woodpecker with this feature. The other one was during the winter in Albemarle County east of Crozet.

I'm fairly certain that the next figure with two photos is of the same bird. I'm thinking juvenile Dark-eye Junco, or possibly a juvenile Indigo Bunting, but am not sure of the species.

I heard one American Redstart and one Hooded Warbler up on the parkway, but all the rest of the warblers I heard/saw were on 610: American Redstart (3), Hooded Warbler (4), Cerulean Warbler (1), Black and White Warbler (1), and Worm-eating Warbler (1).
