Old Trail

December 7-10

It was very windy and cold on Monday and Tuesday, and most of the birds were hunkered down. Each day, I only logged 20 avian species. The temperatures started to moderate on Wednesday and Thursday, but it was still windy, and I only had time for short, late morning hikes.

December 11

It was a bit warmer today, and certainly less windy. Once again, I got a late start, but ended up with 30 avian species between 10:00 a.m. and noon, giving me about 35 avian species for this 5 day report.

I saw a cooperative Winter Wren along the east side of the soccer field. This is the fourth Winter Wren I have seen here in Old Trail this month, and in the third location.
