I had a late morning errand to do in Waynesboro, so I decided to do a little birding in nearby Stuarts Draft before the errand. I birded along Guthrie and Churchmans Mill roads, and then along Wayne Avenue and Lipscomb closer to Waynesboro. I only saw 23 avian species, and nothing out of the ordinary.

I sawa hawk while driving along Lipscomb. At first, it looked too small and too skinny for a buteo, but the photos look like it was an immature Red-shouldered Hawk that with heavy molt. I was hoping to see it fly for some more diagnostic features, but I had looked down at my camera view finder to check out a photo, and when I looked up again, it was gone.
