It was a nice morning to be out, but a lot of dog walkers and walker/talkers kept the birds away from the trails.

There have been off and on reports for more than a month of a Rough-legged Hawk off of Guthrie Road in Stuarts Draft. I arranged to meet Tink Moyer up there, and I started off at the north end, and he started off at the south end. On Guthrie Road on the way to meet him, I saw my first Northern Harrier of the season.

After we met up, we thought we saw a Red-tailed Hawk flying into trees where a lot of Starlings had perched. Looking at my photos, I see that there was a second Red-tailed Hawk perched in the trees. The juvenile then took off to the north, and was soon followed by the adult.

Om the way back north, we re-located the Northern Harrier, but never saw the Rough-legged Hawk.
