Old Trail; Crozet, VA; April 25

I only had time for a short hike, and I wanted to see if Yellow Warblers had returned to Old Trail. I did get to photograph my 14th warbler species of 2022.

Mint Springs Park; Crozet, VA; April 26

With thunderstorms in the forecast for late morning and afternoon, I took advantage of sunny skies in the morning to look for warblers at Mint Springs Park. I was confident that I would find American Redstarts and Hooded Warblers there by now, and Worm-eating, Black-throated Blue, and Kentucky Warblers were possible. Soon after starting my hike up the Fire Trail, a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew across the trail right in front of me. I wasn't able to get a photo then, but got a few later when it was circling high above.

There were several Hooded Warblers and American Redstarts.

I heard a Black-throated Blue Warbler, but did not see it, and I didn't hear or see a single Kentucky Warbler - perhaps next week? I did get to photograph a Worm-eating Warbler (warbler species # 15 photographed in 2022).
