Ever since I posted seeing a Clay-colored Sparrow here in Old Trail on October 7, there have been lots of birders visiting Old Trail to look for this scarce species, and I have enjoyed talking with many of the visiting birders.

I decided to do my birding hikes here in Old Trail this week, so that I could chat with some of the visiting birders - saying hi to some that I have known for more than a decade as well as making some new acquaintances. Although I did not see the Clay-colored Sparrow again, quite a few of the visiting birders did get to see it. I birded each day from between 9:30 and 10:00 until around noon, logged 21 to 27 avian species each day, and had a composite week list of 37 avian species. When I added in some of the other avian species reported to me by those with whom I met, the total for the week was more than 40 avian species here in Old Trail. I ended up taking about 2,000 avian photos this week, and selected some of my favorites from this past week to include in this report.
