The toes on my left foot are improving, and today was the first day since the end of last November that I could put on my boots. There have been a pair of rare Eurasian Wigeons at McCormick's Mill in Rafine for the past few weeks, but I had been unable to go there to see and photograph them. I had previously seen this species in 2014 at Chincoteague, VA, but the only photo I got at that time was from more than 500 feet away. So I was eager to get better photos of this rare species. When I got to McCormick's Mill, I found the pair of Eurasian Wigeons right away along with four American Wigeons. Unfortunately, all my views and photos were backlit looking into the sun, but I am not complaining.

I didn't spend a lot of time at McCormick's Mill looking for other avian species, but ended up with 10 avian species there.

On my way home, I drove along Guthrie Road in Stuarts Draft, as that's a good location for raptors. I saw a pair of Red-tailed Hawks, and one American Kestrel, but the falcon flew before I could get a photo.

I found a more cooperative American Kestrel along Hall School Road.
