Old Trail; Crozet

We had a fairly good, and much needed rain yesterday. I hadn't hiked here in Old Trail for more than a month, so with the mountains shrouded in clouds, I hiked close to home this morning, and ended up with 15 avian species.

Blue Ridge Parkway/Route 610

The mountains cleared, so I headed up to the hawk watch after lunch. I saw a few Broad-winged Hawks, some Chimney Swifts, and a Northern Flicker. Before heading for home, I did some birding on Route 610. It was mostly quiet, but I did find three first year male Common Yellowthroats. The first one was very cooperative, but the other two were a bit skittish.
