Central Virginia 3/4-17/2024

Temperatures were 15 to 20 degrees warmer than average, and some of the days were either cloud covered or quite windy. I didn't have a lot of time for birding or processing photos, so this is a two week report. I logged 45 avian species here in Old trail during this reporting period, and another Old Trail birder saw at least two other species here: Chipping Sparrow and Pied-billed Grebe. I drove around Swoope for an hour on March 11 prior to an appointment, and logged 15 to 20 avian species, including 5 not seen during this period in Old Trail: Bald Eagle (2), American Kestrel (2), Red-tailed Hawk (3), Rock Pigeon (several), and Eastern Meadowlark (a few).
