Rockfish Valley Trail 4/1/13

All photos are © Marshall Faintich

It was a nice morning to be out on the Rockfish Valley Trail - a little windy, but warmer and sunny. In less than two hours I logged 25 avian species (see list below), and combined with another 15 recently seen RV Trail species (2nd list below), one can possibly see up to 40 species on the the trail now. Local birders are invited to visit the trail, but I would recommend waiting at least a couple of weeks if you live a long distance from the trail, as spring migrating birds should increase significantly by the end of the month.

A short hike near my home here in the Rockfish Valley added Pine Warbler, Wood Duck, Canada Goose, Tufted Titmouse, and Northern Mockingbird to bring my day list to 30 species.
