With valley temperatures in the upper 80s, I did some afternoon birding up on the Blue Ridge Parkway where it was 10 degrees cooler. It's still a week or two away from good vegetation to support migrtaing warblers, but I did log 17 avian species there, and another 4 with a quick stop down in the valley at the Rockfish Valley Trail. Highlight was a low circling Broad-winged Hawk above the Humpback Rocks Pioneer Farm.
