Rockfish Valley Trail, VA, 4/24/16

It was cool, crisp, and bright this morning, and I wanted to see if any spring migrants had made it to the Rockfish Valley Trail. Although far from the level of avian activity from a few years ago, there was a bit more activity on the trail than there has been for quite a while. I ended up with 20 avian species, mostly common birds there, but there was one White-eyed Vireo and at least four Common Yellowthroats singing for mates. These two species usually nest on the trail, and it was good to see that they had returned.
