Rockfish Valley, VA, 7/4-10/16

I have spent most of the past week close to home, and haven't seen the juvenile Red-shouldered Hawks in my back yard since July 4th when one of them was on the ground that morning. Perhaps they celebrated their independence and left the area?

In addition to the 7/6/16 outing with Walt Childs, I did make one short trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway, but didn't see much there.

The most interesting birds were a pair of Downy Woodpeckers that were chasing each other around a tree.
