There were heavy thunderstorms all night long, and it was overcast this morning. I decided to hike close to home with more rain in the forecast. In a little more than two hours, I saw 37 avian species, and the sun even popped out for a short time. One of the first species I saw was a pair of Yellow-billed Cuckoos, and the last species was a pair of Swainson's Thrushes.

A few of the Pied-billed Grebes and the Green Heron were still in the golf course pond, and there were a good number of woodland species along the trails.

I saw seven warbler species: Common Yellowthroat, American Redstart, Cape May, Northern Parula, Black-throated Green, Magnolia, and a close encounter with a Wilson's Warbler was the highlight of the hike.
