Old Trail; Crozet, VA 10/19/18

Today was more an experiment than a bird hike. I have suspected that the UV filter on my camera lens might be affecting autofocus under certain lighting conditions, so I decided to remove the UV filter and hike the Lindy Bain loop trail this morning. I ended up with 31 avian species, including 3 Blue-headed Vireos, 3 Palm Warblers, and 2 Great Blue Herons. Removing the UV filter exposes the lens to a greater chance of damage, but it might be worth it. Unfortunately, I didn't see enough of a difference yet to draw any conclusions, so I will have to keep testing.
