The hot and muggy air has returned to central Virginia, and I did some birding here in Old Trail these two mornings. Old Trail completely surrounds the Albemarle County Western Park, and I logged most of the 34 avian species, seen over two days, in the park, but some species were seen at other locations along the Lindy Bain loop trail. The highlight for me both mornings was two, possibly three or more, Willow Flycatchers singing their tradtional Fitz-hugh song from the tops of trees in the park.

I watched a female Blue-gray Gnatcatcher listen for a bug, and then grab it for a meal.
