Old Trail

I had to go into Charlottesville this morning, and wasn't able to get out for birding here in Old Trail until a little after 11:00 a.m. I figured that I wouldn't see much given the late start combined with the higher sun at this hour with Standard Time. But I wanted to see if I could re-locate the flock of Evening Grosbeaks that I had seen yesterday. I didn't see any Grosbeaks, but in a little more than an hour, I had 22 avian species, and I only covered about 1/2 of my normal route here.

The highlight of the hike was seeing two Palm Warblers and two, possibly three, Tennessee Warblers along the path above the Western Park wetlands. This is the same location where I have been seeing them for the past month, but didn't think that they would still be here so late in the year.
