Old Trail

I had a late morning appointment in Charlottesville, so I wasn't able to get out and do some birding until early afternoon, and I ended up with 22 avian species.

The highlight of the hike came at the end of the hike. First, I saw a Pine Warbler high up in the trees at the southeast corner of Old Trail (rugged trail along Slabtown Branch Creek).

I turned the corner and headed north on the rugged trail. At the far end of the small pond along this trail, I heard another Pine Warbler. First it started singing high up in the trees, and then flew down and laded about 10 feet away from me.

And then it flew near me and started singing and foraging in some small trees right behind me. For about 5 minutes, it was only 3 to 5 feet away from me as I took lots of photos.
