Old Trail

It's been quite windy the past few days, but the temperatures have moderated a bit. I logged 22 avian species on 11/30, and 27 avian species on 12/2, with a two day list of 33 avian species. None of them were particularly notable, with perhaps one exception. While hiking in the wetands area of Western Park, I saw a large gray bird through the brush that was starting to take off. My first thought was a Great Blue Heron, and I waited for it to gain a little altitude so I could see it better. It was a large hawk and I only got a very quick look at it - perhaps a Northern Goshawk, but more likely a large Cooper's Hawk.
