I got a late start this morning, but still ended up with 25 avian species.

I've seen very few ducks in Old Trail this autumn, so I thought I'd go over to Lickinghole Creek and Basin to look for waterfowl and to see if the Bald Eagles had returned. The good think about winter birding at the basin is that most of the vegetation along the shore is gone, so there are good views of the water. But the bad news is that the public path is on the west (and then north) side of the basin, and that means winter birding in the morning is looking into the low winter sun. There weren't any ducks in the basin, and not even a single Canada Goose, but there were a few Killdeers and five Wilson's Snipes.

A Bald Eagle was at the nest. I hope that it has a mate!
Bald Eagle
There were two Winter Wrens near the wooden blind close to where I was watching the Bald Eagle, although being behind the blind isn't necessary, as the eagle nest is on the other side of the basin. The Winter Wrens were playing hide and seek with me, and I only got a few photos of one of them.
Winter Wren
I hiked around to the north side of the basin, and saw another Winter Wren, and this one was very cooperative.
