It had rained overnight and into the early morning hours. When I left the hotel, it was overcast and temperatures were in the mid-40s, with a weather forecast of remaining the same for the entire day. I headed over to the Pinckney Island NWR. There is a short drive along marshes to the small parking area, and only foot/bicycle traffic from there. My plan was to hike only about a mile to the Ibis Pond and return, and not the entire length of the preserve like I did in 2016.

I saw a couple of small wrens. In the field, I thought they might have been Winter Wrens, but after seeing them enlarged on my computer screen, I am fairly sure they were House Wrens.

I then drove to the nearby Coastal Discovery Museum. There wasn't much to see from the marsh area boardwalks, but the trees around the parking area were a lot more productive.
