Sea Pines Forest Preserve; February 9

The sun finally came out, and with afternoon temperatures in the mid-60s, it also meant that a lot more people were out and about. I saw some House Sparrows at the hotel on my way out, and a Rock Pigeon on the hotel beach upon my return. I hadn't been to Sea Pines in 2016, and hoped that the $9 per day non-resident fee would be worth it, and it turned out to be a good investment.

After arriving at the preserve, I started out hiking the forest trails, and then drove the roads along the lakes.

There was a large Bald Eagle nest, with one adult on a nearby branch, and a juvenile in the nest. When the adult flew, another adult appeared from the nest.
