Rockfish Valley Trail; Nellysford, VA; April 6

I needed to be in Nellysford, so I did a mid-morning hike on the trail. I wanted to see if Yellow-breasted Chats or Common Yellowthroats had arrived yet, but it was fairly quiet there, and I ended up with only 16 avian species.

Did you know that Punxsutawney Phil's cousin lives here in Old Trail? He did not see his shadow this afternoon so that means spring will be here in a few days. I don't think I have ever seen a Groundhog that was this yellow in color.

They had, and I ended up with 34 avian species this morning, with a total of 42 avian species for this report.
