After rain all day yesterday, dense fog persisted from early evening last night until almost 10:00 a.m. this morning. I went out just as the last bit of fog was lifting. My first stop was at the golf course pond, and there were more than 100+ Canada Geese there. I hiked for a couple of hours, and ended up with 34 avian species. I heard a Black-capped Chickadee near where I had heard and photographed one 12 days earlier, and verified the species with the Merlin sound ID app.

Well, with 34 avian species on my list yesterday, I wanted to see if I could get at least 40 avian species on a combined list here in Old Trail through the end of the year. So I focused on areas where I might find some of the species I missed yesterday, and added 4 more species to this list.

It was cold, cloudy, and windy this morning. While I didn't add any new avian species to my list, I did get a few good photos.

It was cool and brisk, with a mix of clouds and bright sun, and only a slight breeze. But there weren't a lot of birds around, so I didn't add any new species to my week list.
